1. Roomba j7+ from iRobot
The Roomba J7+ is iRobot's most advanced robot vacuum to date. Its biggest innovation is its camera-based obstacle-detection system. This uses AI to detect objects such as charging cables and shoes. In our tests the j7+ was quick to remove dust, dirt and pet hair. The counter-rotating rubber brush roll kept the debris in one place rather than sending it scattering all over the floor. It was able to collect small pieces of gravel, sand, and even a little grit. Most robots could not do this. It did this without getting caught in our pet's hair.
Although it's not as efficient as the Roomba s9+ Auto-Emptying Vacuum and can't clean stairs, the j7+ is still a solid option for those who need a vac and a mop in their home. It's not expensive and the IRobot app makes it user-friendly to use.
The iRobot Home App is easy to use, but we found it less reliable as other robotic cleaner apps. It can take a while to download updates and it is sometimes difficult to determine if they are working until you actually see them in action.
2. Roborock Q5+
If you're looking for a robotic vacuum cleaner that does more than simply clean your floors then a hybrid is the best choice. These bots are equipped with a water tank, so they can mop and vacuum simultaneously. These bots also have many additional features such as smart mapping, small object avoidance, and the capability to wash and dry mopping pads. They're costly at retail, but they often come down in price on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.
Roborock is the manufacturer of some of our most loved robotic vacuums and the Q5+ doesn't fail to impress. This is their least expensive auto-empty model, and although it lacks certain features found on higher-end models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's a great choice if you're willing to compromise a bit in order to save a few hundred dollars.
The Q5+ is extremely gentle when it comes down to obstacles such as walls and table legs. This makes it a great choice for homes that have a lot of furniture. It's also very thorough in cleaning dust bunnies. This is a area where many robot vacuums that are less expensive do not excel in. The Q5+'s navigation system is also excellent, with few misses along walls or in corners.
Like other Roborock devices like the Q5+, the Q5+ can be controlled by a handful of buttons on the device or via the Roborock app. Through the app, you can start and stop cleanings, set schedules, create virtual barriers and no-go zones, and alter your home map or change the labels of rooms.
If you decide to go with the Q5+, it comes with a brand new auto-empty dock that's designed specifically to make this robot simple to maintain. However, the Freo X Ultra has its shortcomings, particularly when it comes to navigation. The laser and LiDAR sensors aren't as reliable and reliable as other robovacs. This means it sometimes gets stuck or confused in certain areas or rooms of your home. It can't climb stairs as well as some competitors, for instance and doesn't come with a dock that allows you to set up an area for cleaning that is specifically designed for plush carpets.
